Storing Bangles

Hey, Friends!

Today I want to show you how I store my bangles.  It is a very simple idea but it definitely makes all the difference.

Do your bangle drawers end up looking like this?
Just looking at this makes me go coo-coo. What a mess!  Keeping your bangles mixed up like this makes it almost impossible to pick out the sets when you're in a rush.

Now, look at this

Isn't that much better? I simply gather my bangle sets together and tie a ribbon around each individual set. Not only does it make them easier to find, it creates a neater space.  I started doing this with pieces of old ribbon and cloth I had in my craft box. That is why they don't look too cute and color coordinated, haha. However, if you want them to match, simply go to the fabric store or Michael's and buy your favorite roll of ribbon. I'm  actually thinking of doing that myself because the mix-match is bugging me. ;)

Hope this helps!

Neutrals

Hi! :)
Sorry for my absence. I have yet to buy a new camera and as I mentioned before, my blackberry does not take the best quality pictures. However, since it's been so long, I figured the ol' blackberry would have to do.

I recently purchased this necklace at forever21. I simply fell in love with the combo of neutral colored tear drops.

get the necklace here

A friend of mine invited us over for an early Valentine's day brunch yesterday and I put together this cute little outfit to go with my new necklace.

The outfit was cute, simple, inexpensive and very comfy. I really like the way the soft grey shoes went with the cognac skirt. (The pictures were taken AFTER the brunch so please excuse the wrinkles on my skirt, hehe)  ;)

Wide Leg Pants

Hello, Everyone!

I  would like you to know that I haven't been able to take pictures of my recent outfits because my camera broke! Maybe this is just a blessing in disguise because I have been complaining for a while that it was time for a new one.

Last week I attended the grand opening party for Blo Midtown at Ricochet Bar & Lounge and I manged to take a photo of my outfit using my phone. The quality is "ehhh" but you can still get a feel for the look.

I had a difficult time trying to decide on the perfect outfit for the night. I wanted to look trendy & classy but not over or under dressed. Yet, as a rule of thumb, I say when in doubt, be a little over rather than a little under, haha.  I went through my closet & picked out these electric blue silk Marciano pants. I actually purchased these pants almost 4 years ago! I fell in love with the color, wide leg & high waist. Funny enough, wide leg pants are making a come back.  Get ready to see a lot of 70's style pants/jeans this year.

In the end, I was happy with the look I chose and the event was a great success! Guests strutted down a hot pink carpet and enjoyed complimentary Blo-tinis, a braid bar,  a sketch artist, a candy bar and raffles prizes. The girls from Blo Midtown not only know how to give amazing Blo-outs, they really know how to put together an event!  The staff at Ricochet was also very attentive, funny, & kind. I'm so happy that Midtown now has a chic bar & lounge. I will definitely be going back to Ricochet in the near future.

What I'm Wearing:
  • top- marciano
  • pants- marciano
  •  nude belt- aldo
  • shoes-  Steve Madden Babylon nude pumps
  • ring- forever21
  • necklace- forever21
  • clutch- urban expressions

Lace & Chains

Hello!

So, after last week's leopard bracelet re-vamp, I decided to look for other things I had that could use a little sprucing up. I noticed I had an old lace dress in a "send to Goodwill" bag and being that I love lace, I wanted to see if I could use some of it before giving up the dress. I went searching through my closet and found two items I could use.

First, I found an old cuff that I had promised to give to my sister once I was " bored with it" and here's what I created:

I took a piece of the lace and wrapped it around the old cuff. Then I used a glue gun to adhere the lace to the cuff & voila! Easy peasy pumkpin peasy :)
Of course, when I told my sister about what I had created, she was not too thrilled about the fact that a spruced-up bracelet meant no bracelet for her. I didn't want to go back on my word so I decided to go ahead and send her the new and improved bracelet anyway.

She was thrilled!

Next, I took an old T-shirt and added a little lace to the side pocket.

The T-shirt went from boring to cute in no time! What do you think?

After making this T-shirt, another great idea came to mind. I had received some earrings from Forever21 for Christmas and was hesitating to wear them because the chains on them were too long and would hit my collar bone (pretty annoying.) I decided to cut them and use the extra pieces on chain to spruce-up another boring tank top with a side pocket.

earrings after I cut them.

The chain on the earrings was pretty so I was easy to cut off using a regular scissor.  Then I took the pieces of the chain, measured it against the pocket of the shirt, and glued the pieces using my glue gun.

If you would like to add some fun to old shirts, you can find pieces of chain and other cute stuff like gold buttons, lace, beads, etc... at  your local fabric store or even Walmart. Don't be afraid to try something new and have fun with it!

A Little Creativity

 Well, hello there!

I hope you have been enjoying my blog posts lately. Yesterday, I was looking through my jewelry and trying to decide what I should keep & what I should toss. I do this every-so-often and I usually end up giving what I don't want to my sister. You know what they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure.  During my search, I came across this adorable leopard Betsy Johnson bracelet.

I've had this bracelet for years already & at one point, I was wearing it almost every day.  I just can't say NO to leopard, can you? The wear and tear of this piece finally caught up with it and I noticed that the gold rings on the side had begun to turn black. That being said, I decided to throw out the rusted pieces and create something different.

The bracelet was being held together by an elastic string so I was incredibly easy to snip it & toss the rest out. Then, I grabbed some elastic string & went to my bead stash. This is what the new bracelet looks like:

Once I get bored with the black beads, I think I will change them for a bright color like red or hot pink.

 what do you think?

Hot in Hot Pink

Hello There!

I just bought these amazing Steve Madden, "Moskoww Platform" pumps & I wanted to create a cute & sassy outfit around them for a fun night out in Miami.

Lately, I have made it a point to use things I already have rather than go out and buy something new because I claim to "not have anything to wear."  C'mon girls, you know what I am referring to. Ever stand in front of your closet full of clothes and say, :sigh: "I have NOTHING to wear" ? ....  I used to do that all the time but like I said, I am working on changing that. So, instead of running to the mall to buy an outfit for these amazing shoes, I rummaged through my closet and put together this little number :)

I must say I am in love with the outcome!  Bandage skirts are pretty much a staple of Miami fashion & I've had this one in my closet for about a month. I had been waiting to find the perfect black & white flowy top for it but this look works too. I promise to do another post once I finally find the black and white shirt I want for it ;) I also promise to improve the quality & scenery of my photos once I buy a nice camera. For now, I am working with what I've got so please be patient, haha.

If you like this look, you can create a similar one by putting together any bright colored bandage skirt ( forever 21 has great ones) with a silk/chiffon top in white or any neutral color. Add some sexy gold or nude pumps, a thin belt, some bold accessories. & Voila!

What I'm Wearing:
  • blouse- I bought this at a Miami boutique a few years back.
  • skirt- Forever21; only 11 dollars!
  • belt- thrift store
  • earrings- vintage from my grandmother's stash
  • ring- Forever21
  • bangles- 18k gold vintage bangles from my grandmother's stash
  • shoes- Steve Madden ( other colors available)
  • lipstick- Show Orchid MAC

Striped to Perfection

As you may know, I've been having a great love affair with the color purple lately. I would also like to add my obsession with stripes to that love triangle. There's just something about stripes, particularly the black & white/ blue & white combo, that I just can't seem to get enough of! I had been meaning to put a stripped outfit together for quite some time now & I thought today should be the day. I searched through my closet this morning and found this old shirt I bought last year from forever21. It was the IDEAL shirt to create the look I had wanted to achieve.

These boots are Michael Kors & I got them at Marshalls for just $120.00! I instantly fell in love with the gold buttons. Add gold buttons to something & chances are,I am sold! I also really like the equestrian look to them.

I know most people wouldn't think to pair a black & white striped shirt with tan boots but give it a try! It actually looks really nice together.

What I'm Wearing:
  •  shirt- forever21
  • black pants- forever21
  • boots- Michael Kors- (Marshalls)
  • clutch- DSW
  • rose gold watch- Micheal Kors
  • jewel necklace- forever21

Electric Blue Maxi

Greetings!
So, my sister is always telling me that she highly dislikes maxi skirts and I am always telling her that if you pair them right, they can actually become a very nice outfit. Living in Miami, I wear a lot of flowy, long dresses and maxi skirts. I usually wear them with nice sandals for a cute yet comfy look but I wanted to dress this outfit up a little to show my sister how versatile these skirts can be.

What I'm Wearing:
  • shirt- marciano
  • belt- aldo
  • skirt- forever21
  • shoes-steve madden
  • bracelets- my pieces
  • earrings- vintage

A Pop of Color

Hiiiiii!

I went to a party this weekend and I thought I would wear my new purple shirt. As I mentioned before, I am LOVING the color purple lately. I wanted the shirt to really stand out so I decided to pair it with a black and white skirt.  Pairing a black and white pattern with a bright solid color always looks so stylish!  Some of my favorite pairings include electric blue, red, hot pink, & purple. You should definitely try it out!

i like the way the necklace brought the look together

I really LOVED this outfit! I originally wanted to wear it with gold accessories because the purple really makes the gold stand out and it looks great together. Yet, since I chose to wear these shoes and it had silver accents on them, I decided to go with the black and silver necklace instead. I know what you're probably thinking, " you can't even tell the accents are silver & they are barely visible," but I can be a bit of a stickler for these things ;)

Hope you like the look!
